2010 World Cup betting has peaked as today the teams of group A, Mexico, France Uruguay and host nation South Africa faced off in the opening two matches. World Cup betting odds has France as the favorite to win group A with Mexico joining them in the next round. However after the first match of the day which pitted Mexico against the host South African squad, the hosts may have something to say about who moves on. In what was viewed as an easy win for the Mexicans the odds on favorite, resulted in a one to one tie as the South African’s proved to be more difficult than expected.
Throughout the match, Mexico looked dominant at times, creating far more chances then the South Africans, however they could not capitalize as the South African keeper kept his team in the game. The scoring did not take place until the second half in which the host nation opened the scoring in the 55th minute. Later in the 79th minute, the Mexican’s hard work finally paid off as they were able to score the tying goal.
Over in the France versus Uruguay match, France was predicted by odds makers to walkover the Uruguayan squad. Yet the match has proved to be more difficult for the French than initially expected.
After day one of the 2010 edition of the World Cup, it appears that the first few days of round robin games will be a feeling out process between each team. By early next week however, look for teams such as Mexico, France, Brazil, Spain, and Argentina and so on to give their fans the desired result of high scoring victories. For now though, fans are left wanting more, after a slow first day.
